byebye Xi You Ji and so many more..

said goodbye to Malaysia's broadcast of Xi You Ji...fine, fine, i admit: i'm one of the generations who grew up watching Xi You Ji and i enjoy it so much that for all these years i've been hoping to see it again. TCS had their repeated telecasts but that's when i was working. And somehow watching too many repeats sian liao

so there i was one day at IMM when i passed by a video shop that showed Xi You Ji. Nostalgic, i thought, so i stayed on and watched but i realised it wasn't the one that i grew up with - it seems new. The more i passed by the shop the more i'm convinced that it's new

it wasn't when i was fiddling channels with the remote control that i saw the same video that i saw at IMM. Thank goodness it was a channel that was not so blur although there's noise - can see ok liao. As i watched on i yelled in excitement to my mum "NEW *XI YOU JI!!!"

so every night i faithfully watched. And got very frustrated if i miss one night cos i wasn't at home. After a while my mum joined me - our family primetime after "Love"

Some stories drag too long until i get bored and change channels, some stories got me crying, but everytime when the three disciples walk with their teacher i start laughing because of the antics of Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie. It took quite some time for Sha Wujing and finally - Tang Sanzang, their teacher - joins in their little fun, but more to teaching them

i'm not sure if TCS has broadcasted it but i doubt so because of it's somewhat "vulguar" language used by Sun Wukong and sometimes Zhu Bajie, not to mention one disgusting scene when Sun Wukong disguised himself as Zhu Bajie's bride forcing him to kiss the big boil on 'her' feet which the pus exploded in Zhu Bajie's face and Zhu Bajie licked the pus on his face to pacify his 'bride' - i still have to control my vomit as i'm typing this

but this series - Tang Sanzang is erm..stronger, i guess, than the very first series i've watched. This 'new' Xuanzang even teaches demons what is right and what is wrong, he scolds Wukong more times than the original, sent Wukong away two times, teaches his disciples - talks more than the old series X3 handsome also laaaaah

but what got me squealing and blushing is - FANSERVICE!!!!! i mean, in my point of view. I have NEVER seen Xuangzang looking so human when faced with two main female characters throughout the series. Even at the 2nd last episode one of his disciples asked him something like if he has any feelings for one of them. To that another disciple answered in understanding on Xuanzang's behalf - MY JAW HUNG..WAAAAAAT?!! this is so honest a series about Tang Sanzang!!!!

aaah...i miss the 1986 series..the actors of that series came to Singapore too!!! So cute, i remembered how they drew the characters to promote the interview section: all four Xi You Ji characters with their smiling faces on the mrt train, "Xi You Ji comes to Singapore!" so went something like that

i was disappointed that Liu Xiao Ling Tong did not act in this new series because he and his generations before him were well-known for their research in and roles of Sun Wukong. 20 years have passed...u tink they dun age meh..

but come to think of it, the new Justice Bao series got back the original characters for which i'm VERY happy about - THEY GOT BACK MY FAVOURITE ZHAN ZHAO!!!! siiiiiiigh...must be makeup cos THEY DUN SEEM TO HAVE AGED!!!! especially Zhan Zhao X3

oh i missed Love Cuts, the same actor who protrayed Zhan Zhao X3 dang, it must be a good movie..i think Zhu Houren is a good director, i saw the trailer, i guess it was really worth the watch. Sorry i'm a student, can't anyhow spend money..so have to give up on watching Kenny Ho in that movie..sigh but..fangirl reaquest: ..can he team up with Kaneshiro Takeshi for a movie..?

back to Xi You Ji...there's a new one coming up this year...if TCS wants to get its hands on it, maybe be cautious about the character's lines before broadcasting and calling it a "family series"
